Distorted Chinese Opera Mask Egg Tempera on Drywall

 

                                       Commercial watercolor blended with egg tempera binder . A section of 'drywall' being used as platform with no gesso undercoat. About 7-10 cotas of paint will be required. Note the satin-like red hue with tempera medium.  Acrylic gesso cannot be used with egg tempera paints- it will not bind! Use rabbit glue-based gesso!
