Textile Medium enables permanent, non-fading painting on natural and non-synthetic fabrics. It is necessary if the decorated fabric will be laundered or dry cleaned. Using fabric with a minimum of 50% cotton is recommended for optimal adhesion.
Directions:
Preparation:
- Fabric Preparation: Pre-wash the fabric to remove sizing; avoid using fabric softener.
Mixing and Application:
- Mixing Ratio: Combine a minimum of 2 parts Jo Sonja Matte Flow Acrylic with 1 part Textile Medium. It is advisable to paint a test strip first.
- Application: Apply the mixture to the fabric, ensuring thorough penetration of the fibres. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours.
- Edge Sealing: To prevent fraying, apply All Purpose Sealer to the edges of the cut fabric, extending about 1/2 cm beyond the cut edge.
Heat Setting Instructions:
- Temperature Sensitivity: Excessive heat can alter the colour. Pre-test by covering the painted area of your dry test strip with a cloth or brown paper. Start with a low heat setting and gradually increase until the colour begins to shift. Then reduce the temperature slightly, record the setting, and use it for the final application.
- Ironing: Iron the decorated area for a minimum of 2 minutes at the recorded setting.
Care Instructions:
- Washing: Launder the article with a mild detergent on a delicate heat setting. Note that some cleaning chemicals may affect the colour.
Additional Information:
- Coverage: Approximately 1 ml covers 188 sq cm, 1 oz covers about 6 sq ft.
- Safety and Cleanup: Water-based, non-toxic, and conforms to ASTM D 4236. Clean up with mild soap and cool water. Do not use a hairdryer.
