Azo Dye Preparation/ Grinding Method

1-napthol, sulfanilic acid and sodium nitrite ground in an ice-water bath for five minutes.
Resultant red dye taken up in water and clear acrylic binder and kaolin clay added to prepare paint.

Adjusting PH can vary the color by ionizing the phenol.
