The emotional or intellectual message of a work of art is its content - a
statement, expression, or mood developed by the artist and interpreted
by the observer. Of the three components of art, content may be the most
difficult to identify, because the audience, without direct
communication with the artist, must decipher the artist's thoughts by
observing the work's subject and form. Art is the true fingerprint of
the human condition.
Style is the artist's unique approach to
expressing content. No two artists have the same exact style and it
starts with the drafting of a work. The third component of art will be
left undefined in order to stimulate study of the topic...

Minwax/"Polycrylic"/ Varnish
Minwax Polycrylic is an example of a fortified water-based polyurethane than can stand up a bit better to rough conditions. It also can go over oil-based finishes and can be applied using synthetic-bristle brushes, a foam roller or a rag, as can other water-based polyurethanes. Water-based oil-modified polyurethane is a relatively new product that combines the durability of an oil base with the cleanup of a water base. This product can actually be used on wooden floors.
( I use the product as a protective varnish on my 'silicone paste' paint formulations ( see prior posts) after 24 hrs of paint exposure to the air. It applies smoothly with various paint brushes to the paint surface. Before applying the varnish, I 'finger test' the paint surface to make certain it is non-tacky.

Silicone Paste DIY
I am developing paint formulations with silicone paste vehicle/binder.
Mixing fused silica with silicone oil yields an non-commercial materials that works just as well as the commercial material in paint formultions to date.

Tempera (Poster Paint) Pigment Powder/ Silicone Grease Formulation
Inexpensive 'poster paint' tempera powder blended with silicone grease.
The paint formulation applies to cardstock with brush smoothly.
The paint is dry to the touch in about 1.0 hr at 20 Deg.C.
The dried paint will be inspected over days/weeks with/without topcoat of cellulose ester varnish.
Top: chitosan added to the paint.
Bottom: no chitosan addition.
RGB % Determination at four corners and center points for averaging.

Cellulose Acetate/ Butyrate/ Ethyl Acetate/ Citronellal Varnish
Cellulose acetate/ butyrate is a mixed ester known as a plastic material. I am able to dissolve the mixed ester in ethyl acetate/ citronellal ( 95:5 by volume) with warming. Cooling to 20 deg C yields a colorless, translucent viscous liquid which can be applied to a dried paint surface as a water-resistant varnish.
Drying time is being studied .
The solution can also be converted into a stable water:oil. emulsified paint formulation as vehicle/ binder with pigments.
Ethyl acetate is used primarily as a solvent and diluent, being favored because of its low cost, low toxicity, and agreeable odor. For example, it is commonly used to clean circuit boards and in some nail varnish removers (acetone and acetonitrile are also used). Coffee beans and tea leaves are decaffeinated with this solvent.[7] It is also used in paints as an activator or hardener.[citation needed] Ethyl acetate is present in confectionery, perfumes, and fruits. In perfumes, it evaporates quickly, leaving only the scent of the perfume on the skin.- Wikipedia
